The Annex Soft Opening was a Success!
“The Annex” had a successful soft opening Friday November 29, just days ahead of the crowds for Art Basel/Miami Art Fair in Midtown.
Prime location at 44 NE 29th St, visible but low key, in between Kelley Roy Gallery and Morgans restaurant. Have a look, you’ll find it. The restaurant section up and running courtesy of Morgans, with cash and carry food items, sit down lunches and dinners complete with wine and boutique beers. Great coffee to take away or sip in the garden area out front.
The lounge section naturally evolved into slouching and casual dining on sofas and around repurposed coffee tables. Most revellers toured the space like a magical emporium or gallery of curiosity before sitting down to a bite and a drink on mismatched plates and glassware. Children were fascinated by the hand knitting of large gauge yarns by Loopy Mango of New York, into blankets and lamp shades, even a pink scarf for one lucky young girl.
3 young gents from Hartford Denim Company travelled down from Connecticut with their vintage sewing machines and a stock of handmade denim jeans and leather stitched accessories. A company that has a lifetime repair guarantee and are true artisans of their craft. They experiment with dyes such as Black Walnut, Rust and Natural Indigo. They embody the spirit of the past manufacturing techniques with modern adjustments like great fits and interesting details. They started just the 3 of them in a garage with one machine, and are now ramping up production and are strong advocates for an American manufacturing revival.
Steve Harivels ACE Productions has long running friendships and affiliations in the film, TV and fashion industries which led to the space being photographed yesterday by Patrick Penkwitt The photos we are proud to share with you here.
Join us during the art fair, day and night, for a light respite.
