Opening on Valentine’s Day with a VIP fashion show featuring the latest works from eco-couture designer Luis ValenzuelaArt Wynwood returns to Miami for its second consecutive year. With over 60 international contemporary galleries participating in the fair, everything from street art to pop art and surrealist works will be on view.

Located in a former industrial neighborhood, the Wynwood Arts District is now the epicenter of Miami’s vibrant and growing art world. This year’s fair is a celebration of the District, and will honor the late Tony Goldman, a champion of Wynwood since its inception in 2009 who was also a major force behind the fair.

Street artists will have a particularly strong presence this year, with recently commissioned works by Nemel and Japanese artist AIKO. Nemel is most well known for his tagging work and commitment to foundational elements of graffiti, while AIKO’s oeuvre spans large-scale outdoor installations, museum exhibitions, and fashion collaborations. Another highlight of the show is a series curated by Meghan Coleman, an art manager for Goldman Properties who helped develop Wynwood Walls, the district’s mural series including works by Ron EnglishShepard Fairey, and Os Gemeos.

Art Wynwood 2013 also coincides with the 25th annual Miami International Yacht and Brokerage Show as well as the Christie’s International Brokers Conference. This year it expects to draw more visitors than the over 23,000 who visited last year, and will likely be a dynamic week of art, parties, and fashion.
